Black History Month Art Contest 2021



Visual art, original music, and original videos will all be accepted.


Winning entries will be displayed on the Library’s website and social media.


You’re eligible to enter if your household has a Murrieta Public Library card http://bit.ly/murcard or a Riverside County Library System card.


Contest is open to all ages.



How to Submit Your Work:

Due to COVID 19, all submissions must be made digitally.

  • Participants may submit visual art by sending an image of their art to murrietalibrary@gmail.com.

  • Only PDF and JPG files can be accepted. In the “Message” field, please write the participant’s name, grade or age, phone number, email, and the city they live in.

  • Participants may submit video or musical submissions through the file-sharing service WeTransfer. Only MOV and MP4 files can be accepted. These projects may be individual or done in groups. To send a file directly to the library from WeTransfer, enter murrietalibrary@gmail.com in the “Email to” field. In the “Message” field, please write the participant’s name, age/grade, phone number, email, and the city they live in.

  • Videos and musical pieces must be no longer than 5 minutes long.

  • Videos and musical pieces must contain no explicit language or images.

  • Videos and musical pieces must use original video/sound material, or video/sound material that is licensed for use under Creative Commons.

  • One entry per participant.

  • The entry must be received no later than Sunday, February 28, 2021 at midnight. Late entries will not be accepted.

Contest entries will have their submissions displayed digitally and may enter to win prizes.

By participating in this contest, participants agree to let the Murrieta Public Library use their photographs, names, writeups, and or likenesses for promotion of the library without further compensation. All information gathered is for the use of the Murrieta Public Library in administering the contest and will not be shared except to publicize the winners. All entries may be printed or posted online by the Library. The author retains all permissions and copyright to the submitted work.
